Matthew House Ottawa is a faith-based, volunteer-driven, charitable organization that helps Ottawa’s marginalised population to establish connected, safe, healthy, and dignified homes within our community. We do this by:

1-Providing shelter, food and refugee settlement assistance, including volunteer opportunities, in a family atmosphere to refugee claimants so that they may begin their journey to independence as members in Canadian society; and,

2-, We address furniture poverty by accepting and redistributing gently-used furniture and household items to newcomers and low-income families, referred to us by our 50+ referring partners in the community.

Since we opened our doors in 2010, we have been overwhelmed by the community's support, We have welcomed over 600 homeless refugees claimants into our homes. We provide a bed, food, community and essential settlement support until our residents secure a job and a place to live & We have helped more than 20,000 people (e.g. newcomers, women, children, homeless) make their empty house a home with essential furnishings.
