Redwood Furniture Bank

Redwood Park Communities operates a Furniture Bank in Barrie, Ontario, offering a lifeline to families and individuals in need throughout the Simcoe County region. Here's how this impactful initiative works:

Donating Furniture: Those looking to make a difference can contribute gently-used furniture and household items by reaching out at 1-888-432-8449 or filling out an online form. Upon submission, individuals receive a quote for furniture removal based on volume and distance. Furniture Bank Toronto then coordinates the pickup in collaboration with their logistics partner, Jeff's Junk.

Charitable Contribution: Upon successful donation, Redwood Furniture Bank issues a charitable donation tax receipt to express gratitude and acknowledge the generosity of the donor. This receipt is based on the assessed value of the contributed furniture, offering tangible recognition for the act of giving.

Accessing Furniture: Individuals and families in need of furnishings must be referred by a partnered community agency. With a focus on serving over 10,000 families in the region, Redwood works tirelessly to ensure that those requiring basic household items receive the support they deserve to create a comfortable living environment.

Acceptable Donations: The Redwood Furniture Bank warmly accepts nearly all good condition furniture and housewares, excluding items that are ripped, broken, or infested. Additionally, wooden bed frames, oversized furniture, tube TVs, large appliances, and baby items are not accepted.

Community Support: The inception of the Redwood Furniture Bank in August 2019 was made possible through collaborative efforts with Furniture Bank Toronto, Georgian College, and the Social Enterprise Network of Central Ontario. Since its establishment, the initiative has extended its reach to communities across Simcoe County, including Barrie, Collingwood, Orillia, Midland, Penetanguishene, and Muskoka.

Redwood Park Communities' Furniture Bank stands as a beacon of hope, embodying the spirit of compassion and community support. Through the collective efforts of donors, volunteers, and partner agencies, the organization continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families facing adversity in the Simcoe County region.
