A WIDER CIRCLE

A Wider Circle is a non-profit organization based in the Washington D.C. area, dedicated to combating poverty and advancing equity. Founded with a mission to provide essential support to those in need, the organization offers a range of programs and services aimed at addressing poverty’s root causes.

Essential Support Program: A cornerstone program offering free furniture, household goods, and baby items to individuals and families in need. All items provided are in “dignity condition,” meaning they are gently used and without damage. There are no eligibility requirements for accessing these services, and appointments can be scheduled at their Silver Spring center.

Professional Clothing: A service designed to assist individuals in their pursuit of employment by providing free professional attire such as suits, dresses, and accessories for job interviews and work. Personal shoppers are available to help select outfits at their Silver Spring center.

Career Support: A comprehensive program offering holistic career counseling, job search assistance, networking opportunities, and coaching to help individuals achieve their professional goals. Workshops on interviewing skills, emotional intelligence, and other relevant topics are also provided to support career advancement.

Ward 8 Hub (Washington D.C.): A community-focused initiative offering wraparound services including career counseling, health and wellness classes, financial literacy education, and community engagement initiatives. This hub is also home to their long-term “Partnership to Independence” program, which aims to support individuals in their journey towards self-sufficiency.
